BIG SUR, CALIFORNIA — This Big Sur portrait photography session captures a cinematic, moody approach deep within Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. Surrounded by towering redwoods and dense forest, this Northern California session embraces an ethereal, romantic style rooted in nature.

We are based in Carlsbad, California, and travel throughout California and worldwide to create portrait sessions that feel immersive, emotional, and deeply intentional.

Am I dreaming?

Am I finally photographing in a deep forest—capturing a vision I’ve carried since I first picked up a camera?

Nothing fills my heart like this.

This session, photographed with the model I fell in love with—my wife—became something more than a shoot. It became a reflection of everything I’ve been drawn to creatively.

This is what Big Sur portrait photography allows—space to create, to feel, and to slow everything down.

Deep within Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, surrounded by redwoods and dense foliage, everything changed.

I was completely immersed.

Lost in the forest—but not afraid.

This is where time softens.

Where light filters through the trees and wraps around everything quietly.

Where each frame feels less like a photograph and more like a memory.

This is the essence of a redwood forest portrait session in Big Sur—raw, cinematic, and deeply connected to the environment.

Big Sur offers one of the most unique landscapes in California. The combination of towering redwoods, filtered light, and natural textures creates an atmosphere that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

For those seeking something beyond traditional portraits—something cinematic, emotional, and grounded in nature—a Big Sur portrait session provides a truly distinct experience.
