“Could we really pull this off?” That was the thought as we traveled south on the 5 to Seattle Airport. It was a valid question: we’d just finished photographing Alejandra and Roman's wedding all day, and now we were catching a red-eye back to San Diego. From there, we’d drive straight to Escondido for Dania & Jesiel's wedding. It was thrilling to be in this moment—we were made for this!
ESCONDIDO, CALIFORNIA - After a quick refresh at home in Oceanside, we headed to Dania’s, where she was getting ready. Her house buzzed with energy as siblings, friends, and her mom prepared for the big day. Dania, in the makeup chair, was glowing, laughing, and soaking it all in. After a quick chat, I left my wife to capture those moments and headed over to Jesiel’s place.
The vibe was similar there—lots of laughter and jokes, and even some quieter moments of sentiment among the group. It’s always special to witness both sides preparing for such a day.
Arriving at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Vista, there was a unique sense of joy in the air—a warmth that felt like a family reunion. Dania and Jesiel were truly the heart of their congregation, surrounded by a community of love and joy. It’s no surprise their ceremony turned out as heartfelt and beautiful as it did.
Dania and Jesiel were a vision—Jesiel looked like Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, and Dania was pure royalty. Rancho Santa Fe provided the perfect backdrop for capturing their romance. They were so natural together, and it made for some breathtaking shots (not counting the one with the double chin—that was all theirs!).
The reception in Escondido didn’t disappoint. Guests were ready to welcome the newlyweds with open arms and celebration. The room was filled with smiles and happy tears; it was one of the most vibrant receptions we’ve ever photographed. This was perfect to get great shots. If we had to photograph two interstate weddings back to back. It had to be these Alejandra and Roman and Dania and Jesiel's wedding.
and yes...that night Maria and I, slept really well that night.
