Weddings, weddings, weddings! Give me more weddings! Better yet! Gimme elopements! Even better—hiking elopements! Okay, this one isn't a hiking elopement, but it was undoubtedly a cherry on our delicious cake of awesome shoots this year. Fabiola and Jose's engagement session.
What do you get when you're booked by a beautiful, voluptuous, and down-to-earth bride-to-be and a clean-cut, fashion-sense good-looking cat? You get these two lovecats, Fabiola and Jose. I first met Fabiola through one of my passion projects some years ago. She caught our eye when we ran through our Instagram feed. She had that trigger that got our creative minds running. So, we paired her up with another person who had also caught our minds, and we did some editorial photos in Oceanside. Little did I know that I would hear from her again years later to photograph her wedding day.
Of course, I was super excited to be booked by this beauty. We brainstormed her day and decided to do a cityscape backdrop for her wedding date, as she wasn't the outdoor type. We wouldn't regret that decision.
We settled on Old Town San Diego. It was a perfect setting for these two Mexican lovecats to celebrate their roots and their love at the same time. Old Town San Diego has ties to our Mexican culture, but that's a story for another day. I wanted to use its low-light rooms and its unique architecture to create the intimate, moody photos we are now known for, and we got it.
City Hall & Ceremony
After the portraits, we headed out to San Marcos City Hall. (Yes, shooting wedding portraits before a ceremony happens more than you think.) We still needed to get these two officially married by signing the documentation and having a brief ceremony. For Fabiola, this was a moment of discovery. She discovered she had a middle name. She didn't know of this revelation until she pulled her birth certificate at that moment. It was a cute little moment, which was caught in the photos along with other sweet moments of their union. Congratulations to these two lovecats!
