Nancy and Miguel share a quiet newlywed moment beside the Pacific after their intimate Kingdom Hall wedding ceremony.

CHOOSING THE MOMENTS THAT MATTERED MOST

ARRIVING AT THE KINGDOM HALL

The ceremony took place at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in San Diego.

This particular building immediately stood out because it had two stories—something less common among Kingdom Halls, which are often simple single-story structures.

The architecture was different, but the welcoming atmosphere felt familiar.

Smiling faces filled the building as friends, family members, and members of the congregation gathered to witness Nancy and Miguel begin their marriage.

I may have looked slightly unfamiliar to them.

Silver rings covered nearly every finger, and my style leaned more cowboy than traditional Kingdom Hall attire.

A few puzzled expressions appeared at first.

Then the introductions began, everyone settled in, and it was time to work.

THE GROOM WITH THE BIGGEST SMILE

AN INTIMATE JEHOVAH’S WITNESS WEDDING CEREMONY

A Jehovah’s Witness wedding centers on the couple’s commitment and the Scriptural counsel given to help guide their marriage.

The photographer’s responsibility is to remain discreet and respectful.

The ceremony does not exist for the camera.

The photography should preserve the meaningful moments without becoming part of the program itself.

For Nancy and Miguel, we focused on:

• their expressions during the wedding talk

• the seriousness of the commitment

• the warmth of the congregation

• the exchange of vows

• the happiness surrounding them afterward

The room may have been intimate, but the joy was impossible to miss.

ROMANTIC WEDDING PORTRAITS BY THE OCEAN

A small wedding did not mean the couple had to sacrifice meaningful wedding portraits.

After the ceremony, we continued the story near the Imperial Beach coastline.

The ocean brought movement and atmosphere.

Dark rocks gave the portraits structure.

The open horizon created space around the newlyweds.

Nancy’s dress moved against the coastal landscape while she and Miguel settled into their first portraits as husband and wife.

The setting allowed us to create photographs that felt romantic, moody, and cinematic without disconnecting them from the simplicity of their wedding day.
