JUNE LAKE, CALIFORNIA — Every couple has their own version of the perfect wedding.
For some, it’s the beaches of Hawaii.
For others, the historic streets of Europe.
For us?
Forests.
Mountains.
Cold air.
Moody weather.
For those searching for a June Lake wedding photographer or a mountain wedding in California, Haley and Cristian’s wedding felt like everything we love about wedding photography brought together in one unforgettable experience.
ARRIVING IN JUNE LAKE
The morning began with a view that almost didn’t feel real.
June Lake reflecting the mountains.
Fresh alpine air pouring through the cabin door.
Coffee in hand.
The kind of moment that makes you pause and appreciate where you are.
But we weren’t there for vacation.
We were there to document a wedding in one of the most visually stunning places we had ever photographed.
SCOUTING THE PORTRAIT LOCATIONS
Before meeting the couple, Maria and I headed out to scout portrait locations around the area.
The deeper we explored, the more inspired I became.
Lakes.
Rivers.
Forests.
Mountain views around every corner.
It felt endless.
And then came the mosquitoes.
Apparently, mountain mosquitoes do not care that it’s cold.
Fortunately, Maria is always prepared, and after covering ourselves in bug spray, we continued searching until we found the perfect river location hidden along the road.
At that point—
We knew we were set.
GETTING READY
We arrived at the resort and met Haley while she was getting ready.
Completely relaxed.
Completely excited.
And somewhere during our conversation, we discovered something unexpected:
We were both dinosaur nerds.
Jurassic Park fans immediately recognize each other.
It’s science.
Meanwhile, Cristian and the groomsmen carried a completely different energy—laid back, loud, and full of nonstop stories and laughter.
The atmosphere already felt like a celebration before the ceremony even began.
THE CEREMONY
As guests waited quietly in the mountain air, light rain began to fall.
And then—
The unmistakable sound of Jurassic Park’s theme filled the ceremony space.
Perfectly dramatic.
Perfectly emotional.
Perfectly fitting for these two.
At that point, the wedding officially crossed into legendary territory.
THE PORTRAITS — JUNE LAKE & SILVER LAKE
This was the moment I had been waiting for.
The forests and mountain scenery surrounding June Lake aligned perfectly with our style of photography.
Moody weather.
Soft mountain light.
Cinematic landscapes in every direction.
Even when plans changed because of soggy terrain and constant interruptions, the environment still delivered incredible imagery.
That’s the beauty of locations like this—
They do half the storytelling for you.
THE RECEPTION
Once the reception began, Maria and I shifted into documentary mode.
Quietly observing.
Capturing moments as they unfolded naturally.
The reception itself felt like pure chaos in the best possible way:
• Dinosaurs
• Drinks
• Laughter
• Mountains
• Pastries
Honestly, it felt impossible not to have fun at this wedding.
MOUNTAIN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN CALIFORNIA
Mountain weddings create an atmosphere unlike any other environment.
The landscapes naturally add:
• Scale
• Mood
• Emotion
• Cinematic depth
We photograph weddings throughout California, the Pacific Northwest, and destination locations, focusing on locations that align with our cinematic and nature-driven style.
THE ATMOSPHERE OF A MOUNTAIN WEDDING
Mountain environments bring an unpredictability that often creates the most memorable imagery.
Clouds rolling in.
Rain beginning unexpectedly.
Cold air moving through the trees.
Rather than fighting these conditions, we embrace them as part of the storytelling experience.
