SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - What a glorious morning this day was. I was excited to photograph Jessica and James on their wedding day after photographing their engagement portraits back in September of '03. I remember we had a blast photographing that session, and I had no reason to believe it would be any different this time around. I was right!
WEDDING PORTRAITS
This time around, the plan was a little different from traditional. We started off with their wedding portraits down by the bay of Downtown San Diego. The romantic sailing ships docked along the docks gave it a romantic feel to this session that was screaming, "Photograph here!" But there is only so much we can photograph at the docks without getting onto the ships—not that I didn't try. So, we had to photograph the portraits as other parts of the wedding day occurred. We photographed in the shadows of City Hall and Liberty Station.
CEREMONY
We headed up to the City Hall building to get these two their marriage license, where part of the family was waiting for them. There was a bit of confusion as to where the ceremony would be held. Once cleared, we headed down to a small area in the back of City Hall facing the bay. It was beautiful, but I wish the parking or traffic were not visible in the background. Nevertheless, it was small potatoes compared to the occasion and the love received for these two as we approached the spot. The love afterward was beautiful as well.
RECEPTION
We arrived at the Stone Brewery at Liberty Station to celebrate the new family. The family celebrated with games and chatter of stories and updates among themselves as Jessica and James arrived. The restaurant prepared some delicious food to celebrate the occasion. All in all, it was fun to be among such a happy family. We really enjoyed this adventure with Jessica and James. We hope nothing but the best for these two lovecats.
