OAK GLEN, CALIFORNIA - Photography is our mistress. She treats us well. We get to explore new places, meet awesome people, and experience things we have never experienced before. Vanessa and Fonzy's wedding was one of those weddings that not only introduced us to these two loving lovebirds but also allowed us to experience something Maria and I had never encountered before: snowfall. How did we cope with this natural event? The answer is not in this blog. This blog is about the wedding of Vanessa and Fonzy, and it was as majestic as the snowfall!
When we arrived at Fonzy and Vanessa’s Airbnb, we were a bit nervous about the wedding and the pending snowfall. But we are professionals, and we know that as soon as we step into the home of happy women celebrating the love of their fellow lady, those nerves melt away. That’s when we get to work photographing every detail and moment from there on out.
After photographing part of Vanessa's pre-ceremony rituals, we headed out to The Serendipity Garden, where the rest of the rituals would take place. As we were getting our equipment out of the car, little seeds began to fall from the willow trees above us.
Wait... There were no blossoms on the trees!
It had begun to snow.
For the first time ever in our lives, my wife and I shared the experience of seeing snowfall. It contributed to the magic that was already in the air. The majestic surroundings, the fun and emotional moments between friends, the becoming of the bride, the first look—this was going to be a wedding to remember. With our moody style of photography, it only enhanced the magic.
The magic continued into the ceremony. With cold faces and smiles, the chairs slowly began to fill, awaiting the ceremony and the beautiful bride walking down the aisle to reunite with her handsome groom.
I didn’t think it was possible for the air in an outdoor venue to escape, but it didn’t when Vanessa came down the aisle. The smiles only grew bigger.
Then it snowed on us.
Right when these two were vowing their lives to each other, the snow began to fall. I kept thinking how magical this day was.
I was going to let this snow do whatever it wanted. I wanted to see how it would create art for me in the portraits. It was romantic and really made this wedding. It stole the show!
The barn at The Serendipity Garden gave the reception a warm, cozy feeling. Although it was cold outside, we were toasting inside. With a packed house of happy guests, they celebrated this festive occasion. This wedding was perfect: great locations, great venue, great guests, and a great couple. We wish the best for Vanessa and Fonzy!
