SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - I love trying new things. But this, I really loved. I've been seeing these sessions with couples on Instagram, in their natural habitat—or home, as the rest of you mortals like to say—and it intrigued me. I discovered that there's something about the coziness of a home environment that instantly makes couples comfortable.
At least, that was the case with Yamila & Alejandro, who volunteered for this collaboration with me. This setting is one I hope catches on with our customers. My objective for this shoot is not to capture our couple in intimacy, but to capture them in their playful and comfortable state of being alone. Is it sensual? Perhaps. It depends on the mentality, I suppose. Perverts.
Of course, I'm kidding. Sort of.
I wanted to capture the moments that no one sees. The playfulness, the loving affection, the flirtation, and cute moments that happen in the privacy of their home without getting too intimate. After all, that's why it's intimate, am I right? I wanted to create images that a person would cherish when they miss someone when they are gone. Yamila and Alex helped me materialize this. That, and the use of heavy shadows and expressions, made this moody shoot perfect.
Recently married, these two easily got into that state of love. It was beautiful, it was cute. It felt like one of those romantic movies that I enjoy so much. It was incredibly romantic. You gotta love young love. I don't know why they call it young love. My wife and I still have this and I'm 41 by the time this blog is published. But that's another subject.
We hope more customers book us for this kind of shoot, especially if you are looking for an excuse to cuddle up.
