LOS ANGELES & LA HABRA, CALIFORNIA — Revisiting old weddings has reminded us of something important:
The moments never lose their meaning.
Adriana and Steve's wedding took us through Los Angeles and La Habra, from the commotion of getting ready to the quiet inside the Kingdom Hall, a little pocket of green we found for portraits, and a reception where everybody finally got to cut loose.
Looking back at those photographs years later, it's remarkable how quickly the little details come back. The places, the faces, the moments happening between everything we had planned to photograph.
PRE-CEREMONY
Wedding mornings always carry a certain energy.
Excitement.
Nervousness.
Chaos wrapped in anticipation.
The early drive to Los Angeles felt familiar—the quiet anxiety photographers know before every wedding day begins.
But that feeling always disappears the moment we arrive.
Adriana’s home was filled with movement and emotion as family members prepared for the ceremony ahead.
The same atmosphere carried over when we arrived at Steve’s home, where the newlyweds would eventually begin their life together.
Maria and I quietly documented the details and interactions that would later become part of the memory of the day.
THE CEREMONY
The ceremony took place at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Simple.
Focused.
Sincere.
The warmth of the day contrasted beautifully with the cool calmness inside the hall, where family and friends gathered to witness Adriana and Steve officially begin their marriage together.
Some of the strongest moments came quietly—
The smiles exchanged.
The reactions from loved ones.
The stillness before and after the vows.
WEDDING PORTRAITS
Photographing weddings in Los Angeles often requires adapting creatively to the environment.
Natural landscapes can be harder to find within the city, which makes discovering the right portrait location even more important.
Fortunately, we found a small park tucked within the community that offered a softer and more natural atmosphere than we expected.
Bordered by a nearby reserve, the environment gave us exactly what we needed:
Quietness.
Texture.
A sense of intimacy that matched the couple perfectly.
THE RECEPTION
By the time the reception rolled around, the quiet of the ceremony was a distant memory.
The speeches brought out the emotions, the music got people moving, and suddenly there was something worth photographing in every direction.
This is one of my favorite things about weddings. You spend part of the day watching everyone hold it together through the ceremony, and then the reception comes along and everybody finally lets loose.
Adriana and Steve's celebration was full of laughter, music, and those little moments happening between the bigger ones. Maria and I just kept moving, cameras in hand, following the energy wherever it took us.
EVERY WEDDING HAS ITS OWN RHYTHM
Photographing Adriana and Steve's wedding meant working with whatever the day gave us. Two busy homes, a quiet ceremony, a tucked-away park, and a reception that didn't sit still for long.
And that's what makes this work interesting. No two weddings unfold the same way, and I wouldn't want them to. The unexpected moments, the personalities, and even the occasional chaos are what make these stories worth telling.
If you're planning a wedding in Los Angeles, La Habra, or somewhere farther down the road, we'd love to hear what you have in mind. Bring us your ideas, your people, and everything that makes your story yours. We'll bring the cameras.
